Biography
Tiff Wheeler grew up in Pittsboro, NC. She grew up in the music life as well. Dad, Johnny Wilson (BigTime Party Band) was always in a band and also owned a DJ Service. Tiff would tag along with Johnny to different band jobs or DJ jobs. At the age of 16 Johnny turned her loose as a DJ at Pokey's Pub in Sanford, NC. She remained there for 5 years. Tiff was not known for her singing...she was known for her talking though. She loves to talk to anyone who will listen to her. At age 21, Tiff was asked to sing a very short solo in her church choir.....she did it but was very nervous about it. Church became her place to sing. In 2007 Tiff's dad asked her to join him at the Spring SOS on stage. She thought he had lost his mind...."I can't sing!' she told him. But wanting to please her dad she went along with it. She sang "Me and My Gal" at the Avista and had a blast. She thought that was a one-time deal and that was it. After returning back home and back at church she sang, "Wade in the Water", and of course Johnny was there listening and thinking..."You can shag to that! Let's record it!" Tiff was hesitant about it...but once again agreed to make daddy happy. So off to Guy Brook's Studio (The Castaway's) to record. That was Tiff's first time recording and she loved it! "Wade in the Water" was released on Sounds of Sept., 2007 and has done fairly well on several different charts. She returned to SOS in the fall of 2007 and sang at Dynamites (RIP) where Chad Sain heard her for the first time. As she was walking off stage he pulled her to the side and asked her to sing at the Industry Awards. She said yes and then went to find her dad. She said to her dad, “Chad Sain asked me to sing at the Industry Awards and I told him yes….but what’s the Industry Awards?” Her dad laughed and was amazed that she was asked to sing. So she returned in November and sang at the award show. CBMA weekend was an unforgettable weekend for her! Guess dad knows best!
Tiff also wrote her first song in Spring of 2007. She called her brother, John Wilson, (also with the BigTime Party Band) and sang the song to him over the phone. He pulled out the guitar and started adding chords to the song. It was a site. On Tiff's end of the line she was singing into the phone..on the other end of the line her brother John was trying to hold the phone up to his ear and play his guitar at the same time...not an easy task! So "Do Ya Like" was born! She has written a few more songs since "Do Ya Like" and hopefully will record them within the next year.
Tiff is married to Mike Wheeler and they have 2 boys that keep her busy. Since she has started singing beach music, many doors have opened for her. She switched careers. After 15 years as a Pre-K teacher and owner of a preschool, she closed down and was hired doing Marketing and Promotions for Time-Out Sports Bar and Time-Out @ University Square. Both locations are in Chapel Hill, NC. She loves her boss, Eddie Williams because he puts family first. "Not many businessmen say that. My kids are my first priority. If they are sick I know Eddie will be ok if I need to stay home with them. If I need to go to KHP to record, Eddie is ok with that too. He's just a great guy and I am having a blast working for him because he lets me get creative...and he listens. What a rarity!!"
Tiff is now a full time member of the BigTime Party Band is very excited about singing with her dad and brother. “All of the guys in the band are very talented in their own way. With so many different talents, we can combine them and create an awesome sound that we hope everyone enjoys! Come out and see us sometime!”
